Oridam

Oridam is a 2004 Indian Malayalam film, directed by Pradeep Nair, starring Geethu Mohandas and K P A C Lalitha in the lead roles. Oridam is a quest of a sex worker to find a place for herself in the society. The very same society, which uses and throws her. The reason for a woman being thrown into the street could be the same, anywhere in the world. The pains, sufferings, dreams and the thoughts of a new life tormented her. She lived weighing herself between the right and the wrong.
The sex worker (Geethu Mohandas) who doesn’t have a name, nor does many of the other characters in the movie. The protagonist has a simple dream. A dream of leading a decent life, one that doesn’t have anything to do with the flesh trade.

It is a simple tale that narrates the unprecedented happenings in the lives of a young couple, soon after their marriage. The period in their life that is being handled here is a rather short one, but an
important one as well. The story delves deep into the mind of the protagonists and zooms in on their love for each other. Even before their honeymoon ends, an unfortunate event takes away all the happiness and drifts them apart. How the two resolve the issues between them and start their life again afresh is what the story tells.
